A Moment for Missions
The 2010 World Mission Offering theme is in Haiti and in the world. A DVD telling how American Baptist missionaries have been ministering in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake is in the program.
The Son of Man came to look for the lost and save them. Luke 19:10 NIRV
A young girl named Cami, sent to me for trauma counseling, surprised me with her thankfulness for the earthquake in Haiti. After the death of her parents, she was adopted by a voodoo woman and forced to feed a zombie spirit at night. She said that her torment ended with the earthquake came and God sucked up the evil spirits. She is thankful that she is now free to worship God. I counseled her to continue growing close to Jesus and to speak freely of her renewed faith in God so other people can also know God’s great power. Missions Moment
FEED MY SHEEP. That is the focus for the One Great Hour of Sharing mission offering campaign that WCCBC is currently involved.
In His last conversation with the disciples after His resurrection, Jesus repeated the same message three times: If you love me, take care of the people I love. Jesus had given up everything to care for ordinary people. He called on His followers to now make a tangible difference in the lives of others. (John 21:15—17)
When we make a gift to One Great Hour of Sharing, we actively participate in tending God’s flock throughout the world. Our gift brings shelter, food, water, and medical supplies to disaster survivors. We help refugees find safe shelter and begin to build new lives. We aid impoverished communities in securing dependable sources of food and clean water. We also help provide medical care and education that strengthen bodies and minds and create brighter futures.
Remember the feeding of the 5,000? The disciples thought their resources could never meet the people’s need. Yet the followers of Jesus gave sacrificially from what they had and through God’s blessing, their gifts created a miracle for all.
Prayerfully consider what you can do to further strengthen the outreach of One Great Hour of Sharing and remember that by sharing your resources, you are changing lives.
